Pocahontas County offers a great variety of fun-filled activities and events to keep you and your family entertained. 

The Pocahontas County Conservation Board maintains nearly 40 parks, preserves, trails and recreation areas that allow residents the opportunity to camp, fish, hunt, walk, bike, or do just about anything imaginable outdoors. Perfect for an extended weekend or just a quick afternoon break, over 2,200 acres are available for your family’s exploration. All of our communities feature parks filled with fun equipment for your kids. Each town participates in summer recreation programs and over 600 county kids participate in the spring soccer program. The communities of Fonda, Laurens, Pocahontas and Rolfe all feature swimming pools to keep cool in the summer. Those four towns also feature golf courses, and Laurens recently christened the county’s first disc golf course. Rolfe and Pocahontas furnish flourishing farmer’s markets each summer and fall. And the ever-popular Pocahontas County Fair brings great fun for all in the summer, while each town features a large annual celebrations and festivals and weekend events throughout the year.

However, we’ll leave it up to you to decide how you’ll incorporate those close destinations into your family’s quality of life in Pocahontas County.
